Claypaky Skylos Make Romanian Debut at ”Beach, Please!” Music Festival

In just three years, Constanta, Romania’s “Beach Please” has become the largest urban music festival in Europe drawing hiphop, pop and electronic headliners. The 2024 show, held July 10-14, featured a stage spanning 82 x 26 meters with a lighting rig comprising 430 moving light fixtures. To match the colossal scale of the production, Stage and Lighting Designer Andrei Predut of APart Productions brought in 36 Claypaky Skylos, which made their Romanian debut in spectacular fashion.

Predut positioned the Skylos in groups of six placed at key points in the 3D decore. “As soon as we let the beams lose on the sky during the setup and programing time, we got instant reactions of awe,” Predut reports. “Crew from all departments started a pilgrimage to FOH so they could inquire about this never-before-seen breed of fixture.

“The second wave of reactions was from all the guest lighting designers – positive, to say the least! We got reports from people who spotted the beams from distances of over 35km away.”

Predut himself says “it was a privilege to be the first lighting designer in Romania to have access to such remarkable gear. Skylos was everything I expected it to be and more: sharp beams, vibrant colors and extremely powerful. It definitely was the right tool for the job as it got instant and powerful reactions and has remained an anchor in all our subsequent conversations about lighting design for festivals.”

Arena Events provided the Skylos fixtures from Motion Gear in Germany. Bogdan Gradisteanu of Marbo in Bucarest is the Romanian distributor of Claypaky lighting.
