Electric Claudio Merlo Lighting Equipment S.A. (ECM), a stage lighting equipment supplier and Claypaky distributor in Taverne, Switzerland, has been working non-stop to fill the needs of professional theaters across Switzerland.
Theaters are particularly demanding venues for lighting fixtures since they require extremely low-noise operation and very high quality of light and control. Given those factors, Claypaky products are especially well suited for theatrical applications of all kinds.
For the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Geneva’s opera house, which boasts the largest stage in Switzerland, ECM installed Claypaky Tambora Batten Round fixtures to illuminate operas, ballets, recitals and concerts.
The addition of Tambora, with round lens configurations, met the theater’s need for high-power, dynamic batten fixtures that offered an excellent cost-to-performance ratio.
Also in Geneva, ECM provided Claypaky HY B-EYE K25/Teatro fixtures to the Comédie de Genève, a new showplace not only featuring two halls for theatrical performances but also large construction workshops and spaces that bring all theater disciplines under one roof.
The B-EYE K25 fixtures, which serve as high-performance LED wash lights, beam lights and VFX projector, were installed in the main hall. The Teatro version, which guarantees silent operation without sacrificing bright colors, was specifically requested.
The same model B-EYE K25/Teatro was also in demand at LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, a cultural center dedicated to music, visual and performing arts in Lugano. ECM added HY B-EYE K25/ Teatros and Claypaky Axcor Profile 600 HC/Teatro fixtures to LAC’s multi-use theater.
The B-EYE K25 fixtures were integrated into the theater’s appliance raider. The Axcor Profiles were chosen for their combination of high performance, exceptional light quality and versatility. The Teatro version features an updated cooling system and mechanisms to significantly reduce the unit’s acoustical footprint.
Beaulieu Lausanne offers exhibition, conference and entertainment spaces, including the newly renovated, 1600-seat Théâtre de Beaulieu where ECM recently installed Claypaky Sinfonya Profile 600 fixtures.
The refurbished theater presents an eclectic program of productions for residents of and visitors to Lausanne, including comedy, dance, theater, musical comedy and concerts. The hall decided to invest in the new Sinfonya luminaires for their cutting-edge technology, framing system and low-noise operation.
Sinfonya is the first of a new family of LED fixtures designed and manufactured exclusively for the theatrical market. The stylish Sinfonya Profile 600 features a new core technology with a wide variety of features that offer endless possibilities for theater designers.
Finally, at Théâtre Barnabé in Servion, ECM installed Claypaky Arolla Profile MP fixtures to complete the stage lighting setup. Théâtre Barnabé is the largest café-theater in Europe and features traditional revues as well as musical comedies each season.
The theater selected Arolla Profile MPs for their small footprint and powerful output, a winning combination for the café-theater environment. The Arolla Profile MP is the smallest and lightest moving head fixture in its class delivering powerful light output and full feature complement – including color wheel, seven HD interchangeable rotating gobos, rotating prism and framing system – typically found in much larger and more expensive luminaires.
“Working with Claypaky is a pleasure, not only for the excellent service but also for the support and proficiency. They listen to customers’ needs also in terms of development and research. Very welcoming and kind, they regularly host us for updates and training courses so that we can advise and satisfy the customers’ requests,” concludes Marco Cereda, Technical & Service Department at ECM.
