Newly crowned MOBO Awards Best Male Act Ghetts performed an energetic, crowd-pleaser gig at London’s Roundhouse in November backed by hi-res Desay LED screens from Production AV.
The audience didn’t miss a beat as the Production AV team filmed the London rapper’s high octane show, using manned cameras positioned at FOH and in the pit. These were complemented by Production AV’s Agile remote cameras placed at the end of the stage catwalk and below the audience balcony.
Overseeing the visuals for Ghetts and his tour manager, Neicee Oakley, was Production AV’s Project Manager Nathan Dunbar, whose concert touring experience and expertise spans large scale productions such as Glastonbury and the MTV World Stage, as well as artists including Little Simz.
Dunbar says: “Ghetts’ touring team approached Production AV to deliver a complete visuals solution, comprising two 5x3m flown IMAG screens to flank the stage, a full camera package, PPU for vision mix and record rack for archive footage. A Qlab system was added for playback, launching Ghetts’ online store.
“Production AV has invested heavily in new kit over the last few years, so we were ready with in-stock Desay M6 LED panels, Agile Remote Cameras, Sony Camera Channels and our GoPro HERO9 Streaming Action cameras for return band shots.”
Ghetts was joined on stage at his Roundhouse gig with a plethora of big-name stars who made cameos to rapturous applause, including Dizzee Rascal, Emeli Sandé and Stormzy. Journalist Gemma Samways asked in her review for The Standard whether she’d ‘just witnessed the best rap show of 2021’.
The Roundhouse is notorious for its challenging sightlines, due to its shape, interior construction and flat floor. “This made the need for hi-res IMAG screens even greater,” adds Dunbar, “and we delivered on-stage action from our crewed cameras so nothing was missed. We were thrilled to be a part of what we think was a magical moment in Ghetts’ career.”
Production AV’s on-site team, in addition to Dunbar as Video Project Manager and Multi-Cam Director, comprised Laurie Kaye on the Remote Cameras, Harry Gambino on LED and Playback, Jude Butcher of FOH camera duty and Humberto Cunha operating the Pit Cam.
