Malik’s hire comes during a period of growth for the Vancouver-based studio as it expands its performance capture services.
Animatrik Film Design, a world leader in cutting-edge motion capture, pre-visualisation and virtual cinematography services, has announced Malik Jayawardena as its new US-based Performance Capture Supervisor. With the application of virtual production and motion capture technology rapidly increasing across the whole of the media and entertainment industry, Animatrik is tapping into Malik’s impressive motion capture experience to bolster its workforce state side.
Malik brings with him a breadth of experience running motion capture projects for some of the world’s biggest movie releases. These projects include Avatar as Senior Motion Capture Technical Director and Motion Editor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes as a Motion Capture Operator, Motion Capture Supervisor for Thor: Love and Thunder and Motion Capture Technical Director for the entirety of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, to name a few.
Malik aims to harness the knowledge and skills gained working with some of the world’s most prolific directors in his new role as US-based Performance Capture Supervisor, where he will organise, manage and run Animatrik’s Performance Capture projects in LA and across the US.
